This trail begins at the Lost Valley campground and terminates in a
cave 1 1/2 miles up the valley. Features include waterfalls, a
cascading creek, towering cliffs, a large bluff shelter, a natural
bridge, spring wildflowers and a hardwood forest containing American
beech. The cave itself is a tight squeeze for approximately 200 feet
ending in a large room with a 35-foot-tall waterfall. Clark Creek, like
most tributaries to the Buffalo River, tends to dry up or go
underground during the late summer and early fall of most years. The
available brochure is self-guiding. The first mile to Eden Falls is
level and easy going. The trail then climbs steeply to the mouth of the
cave. You will need reliable lights when exploring the caves. Some of
the areas within these caves can be cramped and muddy and wet. Be
prepared to get dirty! While some areas of these caves are open and
will allow you to walk through there are other areas that are much
smaller so if you have issues with claustrophobia please be aware.

Kayak the Colorado River on the forgotten 15-mile stretch between the
Glen Canyon Dam and Lees Ferry. The whole time you will be surrounded
by the skyscraper steep walls of the canyon where the vertical cliffs
start out at 700 feet and halfway through the trip, they rocket to
1,700 feet. This area boasts the southwest’s cleanest water and an
abundance of trout. Enjoy the breathtaking views while the current
takes you. Stop and relax or fish on one of the many shaded beaches and
Camp on one of six designated swaths of sand, then watch slivers of
stars emerge between narrow canyon walls.
Antelope Canyon is at once one of the most breathtaking and tranquil
places on earth. Gently carved from the Navajo sandstone over the
course of countless millenniums, the slot canyons are majestic and
narrow passages, just enough space for a small group to walk the sandy
floor - and for the occasional shafts of sunlight to shine down from
above.

and even blue whales.

kayaking where you will get a chance to explore some of the beautiful
sea caves that the Santa Cruz Island have to offer or If you just feel

Magnificent alpine basins defined by sculpted peaks cradle shining blue
lakes and are linked by high passes with awe-inspiring views, all on a
relatively short trip that’s about half in Sequoia National Park. One layover day in the Cottonwood Lakes or the
South Fork Lakes would let you climb Mt. Langley—the Sierra’s
southernmost 14,000-footer—or easier Cirque Peak, or explore Cottonwood
Basin. Another layover day, this one near the lake on Upper Rock Creek,
would permit a dayhike into breathtaking Miter Basin or a visit to
dramatic Siberian Outpost.

For many, Half Dome defines the Yosemite landscape; this stunning
granite monolith appears in more scrapbooks worldwide than virtually
any other peak. Reigning supremely over the valley floor at 8,842 feet,
its looming form is unmistakable as it beckons hikers to a lofty
360-degree panorama. On the must-do list of nearly every California
hiker, this is a challenging and long journey that features rushing
rivers, turbulent waterfalls, and steep granite walls. The hike first
ascends past Vernal and Nevada Falls to Little Yosemite Valley,
plateaus briefly, then continues rising. The last 400 feet of the climb
are the most memorable, as they include the infamous Half Dome cables
that carry you up the final exposed pitch. But the real prize is the
jaw-dropping view once you arrive, which should help you forget nearly
all the pain of this 5,000-foot ascent.

This counterclockwise loop combines three trails, the Boardstand,
Old Military Road and the Ouachita, to form one of Oklahoma’s best
2-night trips. Seven different trailheads provide plenty of
customization options and easy-access water cache spots during hot, dry
summer months.
Beginning in Holson Valley, the first several miles of this
loop roll westward through several forested ravines and then turn
uphill toward Talimena State Park, cresting Winding Stair Mountain’s
western flank at mile 6.4. Stop to read the historical marker at the
end of Old Military Road and dip downhill before slowly climbing again
along the ridge’s southern slope toward the route’s high point near
Panorama Vista at mile 11.5—there are several developed backcountry
sites to stop on day 1.
The second half of the loop begins with spectacular views of the
Chancellor Mountains as the trail dips downhill to Bohannon Creek and
rises to Deadman’s Gap where it again crests the mountain’s ridgeline
and turns sharply downhill. Rejoin the Indian Nation Trail just before
mile 16. The last several miles of trail roll over small hills in the
forested Holson Valley heading west to loop end and the 0.7-mile spur
to the trailhead.

Not ready to conquer Everest just yet? Then come try your hand at mountaineering one of Colorado's best known 14ers. The legendary Mount of the Holy
Cross is famous for the east facing cross couloir, which fills with
snow and forms a well defined cross. Erosion has made the cross less
defined in the last 100 years. First discovered in 1869, it became the
destination of Christian pilgrimages early in the 20th century, and
continues to sport a colorful history that persists to this day.
The mountain is only 14 miles from the Vail ski area, and can be seen
from a number of vantages, but for an intimate look at the mountain's
namesake cross on the east face, one must climb up and over neighboring
Notch Mountain to see it.

Mount Whitney, of the California Sierra Nevada, holds numerous
distinctions. It is the highpoint of both Tulare & Inyo counties.
It is the highest peak in the Sierra, & indeed in all of
California. Finally, it rises higher than any piece of land in the
United States outside of Alaska.
